The Basics of Beekeeping Seminar
This free seminar is designed to help the curious prospective beekeeper decide whether or not he or she wants to give beekeeping a go; and to provide a tip or two to new beekeepers. You'll learn about hive equipment, beekeeping tools, and protective clothing. We'll also talk about how to plan and prepare for a new hive, beginner hive management considerations, and honeybee anatomy. Somewhere along the way you'll be fascinated with Bee Facts and pleasantly surprised as we dispell some common myths. Of course, no Beekeeping seminar would be complete without some discussion about pollination, honey, beeswax and other honeybee products. You'll also learn about true start-up costs and expected maintenance costs. Curiosity encouraged, questions welcome.
Preparation for the beekeeping season begins in earnest in January or February. Hopefully these seminars will help you decide, help you get motivated, and help you become a Backyard Beekeeper!!
